Amalia De Simone, 91, longtime resident of Elmhurst; Devoted Wife of the late Fiore; Beloved Mother of Angelo (Anna), Rita (Ilio) Andreuccetti, Carmela (Paul) Maddi and Vincenzo (Michele); Loving Nonna of Amalia, Michelle, Fiore, Sara, Mikey, Pietro, Marco, Luca, Rosa, Jerry, Leanna, Gina, Lisa, Julianna, Angelina and Marco; Proud Bisnonna of 16; preceded in death by her loving siblings, Carmela, Raffaele, Lorenza and Rosa. Amalia was a devoted mother, Nonna and Bisnonna. She loved family gatherings, Sunday dinners, the outdoors, gardening, planting, and being a homemaker. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life. Her will was strong and unwavering to the end! There was nothing she couldn't do or wouldn't do for family. Leaving Italy, her homeland to provide for more opportunities for her children is a testament of her love for family. There was no sacrifice too big, no challenge unsurmountable for the wellbeing of her family. From knitting scarves, blankets, pillows, you name it, to cooking her famous Italian dishes, anyone knew when you'd go to her house you would not leave hungry. Her grandchildren knew going to Nonna's meant lots of hugs, kisses and cookies! She loved to sing and dance to songs from the old country, her personality would shine and brighten up any room she walked in. To her grandkids, she will always be known as "the boss". Always loved, and never forgotten. Visitation at the Pedersen Ryberg Funeral Home, 435 N. York St., Elmhurst on Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Monday, June 14, 2021 beginning with prayers at the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. and proceeding to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Entombment Christ the King Garden Mausoleum in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
