Carl E. Rickenbrode

January 15, 1946 - October 5, 2021

Carl E. Rickenbrode of Marengo IL, passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2021. Carl was a beloved husband of 53 years to his wife, Barbara Ann (nee Grande) and a loving father to Steven (Roxanne) Rickenbrode and Anthony Rickenbrode.  He was the proud grandfather of Lauren and Nathan. He was an adored brother-in-law of Diane (Rick) Frandsen, Linda (Dan) Baird, and Michael (Kathy) Grande and fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Carl was loved by his brothers, John (Annette) and the late Jim (Helen). Carl was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gertrude (nee Rothwell). He will be fondly remembered by his extended family and friends. Carl was born in Chicago in 1946 and was a proud member of the United Stated Air Force from 1963-1967. Carl raised his family in Leyden Township and worked as an aircraft mechanic, retiring from Delta Airlines after 28 years of service. He owned and operated a successful swimming pool supply business for many years in Leyden Township, was an active baseball coach for his two sons, and was passionate about restoring classic cars, especially Corvettes. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Pedersen Ryberg Funeral Home, 435 N. York Street, Elmhurst. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021 with prayers at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Interment immediately following at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S.
