Gene H. Josephsen

April 27, 1927 - September 15, 2019

Gene Josephsen was born on April 19, 1927 in Sparkman, Florida to Herman and Alice (nee Lustig) Josephsen. He passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 in LaSalle, Illinois at the age of 92. Gene served in the United States Navy during WWII from May 1944 until July 1946, then in the Naval reserves until February 1951 when he was reinstated to active duty during the Korean War. In July 1954, he was honorably discharged after more than ten years of active and reserve duty. Gene is survived by his children Richard (Cynthia), James (Barbara), and Cynthia (John) Rizzo; grandchildren Rebecca (Richard) Cherivtch, Nicole (Michael) Georgopoulos, Mark (Jennifer), Amanda (Jesus) Sanchez, Matthew Rizzo, and Karen Rizzo; great-grandchildren Ryder, Macie, Kylie, Payton, Gracie, Ella, Gavin, Caden, Sofie, and Noah; sister Carol (Kenneth) Whitlock; sisters-in-law Amelia Babich, Sophia (Francis) Mosillo, and Nancy Babich; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Stella (nee Babich); his sister Alice; brothers Howard (June), Robert (Lois), and Donald; in-laws Michael (Dolores) Babich, Micka (Thaddeus) Kluss, and Ann (living Thomas) McManus; and his parents. Visitation Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 3 pm until 9 pm at Pedersen Ryberg Funeral Home, 435 N. York St., Elmhurst, Illinois. Visitation will also be Monday, September 23 from 9 am until time of Funeral Service at 10 am. Interment at Fairview Memorial Park in Northlake, Illinois.
