Henry K. Slowinski

December 20, 1945 - May 24, 2020

Henry K. Slowinski was born on December 20, 1945 in Mierzecice, Poland to Antoni and Mariana (Gielda) Slowinski.  He passed away May 24, 2020 in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. Henry is survived by his wife of 50 years Filomena; children Art (Nicole) Slowinski and Kathy Slowinski; grandchildren Isabella, Markus, Jaiden, and Mia; sister Miroslawa (Stanislaw) Skubis; sister in law Grace (Chester) Pinas; nephew Jerry Zalewski; business partner and lifelong friend Adam (Elizabeth) Niedospial.  He is preceded in death by his parents. After graduating from the Czestochowa University of Technology, Henry started his career in the 1960's as a mechanical Engineer with Poreba Machine in Poland.  In the late 1970's he came to America to help run Polamco, where he met his future business partner Adam Niedospial.  The two founded Sloan Industries in Bensenville in 1984. Sloan, located in Wood Dale, IL is a precision machining and fabricating company serving industries from health care to homeware. Henry loved to travel the world with his family and friends and learn about new cultures and try new foods.  He enjoyed entertaining, hosting visitors from all around the world and helping other's build their American dream.  One of Henry's favorite hobbies was playing the accordion.  He began in college paying for his tuition as part of a local band playing at weddings and parties and continued to grace many at family parties, Christmas parties and any event that allowed him to jump up on a stage and have some fun with the band or lead a group singing and dancing by playing the tune of a traditional Polish folk song. Services and interment are private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chicago Union of Upper Silesians, zwiazekslazakow.com, the Rush Kidney Transplant Fund http://rush.convio.net/HSlowinski  or the Fresenius Medical Care Foundation https://fmcna.com/company/corporate-responsibility/fresenius-medical-care-foundation/make-a-donation/
