Nicholas C. Rammos
March 20, 1935 - June 24, 2020
Nicholas C. Rammos, 85, of Elmhurst formerly from Melrose Park, passed away Wednesday June 24, 2020 surrounded by his wife and children beside him. Nick is survived by his beloved wife Arhondo "Toula", four children Anastasia (Bryan) Gasperini, Kalliope (Dino) Castino, Maria (Donald) Stephens, Bobby (Cecilia) Rammos and five grandchildren Kayla, Nikolas, Madeline, Giavana and Daniella. Nick was born in Greece to Charalampos and Anastasia Rammos. He enlisted in the Greek Army in his early teens and proudly served for 18 years where he achieved the rank of Captain. Nick came to America in his early 30's searching for a better life. He settled in New York where he met his wife of almost 50 years and raised their family. Together, they opened a flower shop in Manhattan named Simi Florist in honor of his hometown. Nick retired after 20 years in business and moved to Melrose Park, IL where he brought his love for flowers and gardening with him. He was not only an amazing gardener but an amazing man. Nick knew a lot about flowers and more about life. Nick had an incredible sense of humor and always the best advice. He never met a politician he liked or a person he didn't like to talk to. Whether he was telling you a story or one of his jokes, anyone fortunate enough to have met him, loved him. Nick will always be remembered as our Lion... strong till the end. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 10 am at Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 2501 S. Wolf Road, Westchester, Illinois 60154. Burial to follow at Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst. There is a 50 person limit and guests are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
