Sue Akers

August 22, 1952 - July 14, 2021

Sue Akers, age 68, of Northlake, IL .  Beloved Wife of 43 years to Leon Akers; Loving Mother of Tina (Dennis) McCauley and Bob Akers; Proud "Nana" of Colin McCauley, Jessica (Adam) Cox and Liam McCauley; Dear Sister of Betty (Frank) Bauer-Crescenzi, Pat (the late Bill) Eitel, the late Judy (the late Burrado) Small and John (Diane) Tyndal; Loving Aunt to many. Sue dedicated many years in training Black Labrador Retrievers for therapy; bringing them to Villa Scalabrini and  Northlake Library & Holy Family Catholic School allowing children to read to the dogs. She was a past officer of Northlake Women's Club and was very involved at St. John Vianney Parish in Northlake when her children attended there.   In her retirement years Sue and Leon enjoyed travelling  across the United States in their RV.  Visitation at the Pedersen Ryberg Funeral Home, 435 N. York St., Elmhurst on Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and where Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment Elm Lawn Cemetery, Elmhurst, IL.   In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to PAN Foundation , an organization helping people to afford the critical health care treatment they need. panfoundation.org
